Do you know Super Simple Songs!?
I think you do, don’t you! – and if somehow you don’t, then this is a must read for you!
‘Super Simple Songs’ creates songs for children – like the name of their company says, the songs are… well – simple! – But don’t be fooled by this name – Super Simple Songs have quickly evolved into a company that is a very powerful and unique, teaching and learning tool. The colourful videos are amazing, and oh so much fun – your kids will instantly relate and fall in love with what they see and hear. It will get them singing and learning in no time, whether they are native English speakers or not.
I’d say the age group is from 1 – 6 years. But even new born babies and older children will enjoy these songs and animations! As for babysitters, parents and teachers – Super Simple Songs are a god-send!
Super Simple Songs covers a vast range of themes. It concentrates on expanding the vocabulary of young learners through pure fun. Kids quickly learn parts of the body, names of food, saying if they like or don’t like things, names of animals, expressing their feelings and emotions, colours, numbers, clothing, routines, etc!
Super Simple Songs has now hit the big time, and they deserve it. (Over 7.8 million Youtube subscribers at this time of writing) UPDATE Sept ’18 – they now have 11.5M subs!
Their songs and videos are played over and over again in schools throughout the world. Their website is frequented by many teachers using the amazing free resources, such as flashcards and worksheets to match the songs.
How it all began…
The Super Simple Songs crew started out as a small group of teachers in the suburbs of Tokyo, Japan. Children have so much fun learning through music, and this is something that Super Simple Songs tapped into, and mastered!
They made the songs catchy, colourful and mega fun for kids.
No more songs that are too complex, too fast, too difficult to gesture and follow – they kept it simple! – and of course, young learners were captivated!
Come on now – you KNOW the ‘Baby Shark’ song right? Shame on you if you have kids and you don’t know it! If you do know ‘Baby Shark’ – then I also pity you for having this ear-worm embedded in your head with no easing-up in sight. Some of the other Super Simple Songs that I frequently use in my storytelling & song events are:
- Walking in the Jungle
- One Little Finger
- Do You Like Broccoli Ice-Cream? (also see ‘Lasagna Milkshake‘, ‘Pickle Pudding‘, and ‘Spaghetti Yogurt‘) – The kids really enjoy all of these ones!
- Put on Your Shoes – clothing song
- Yes I can!’ – animal song
- BINGO – The famers dog
Since 2005, Super Simple Songs have been firing out beautiful song after song for young learners – and now they have gained a vast following of teachers, children and happy adults from all over the World!
Their songs can be found on their Youtube channel. You’ll find so many videos – you’ll have an endless supply of learning fun that is bursting with quality content for children!
And what I really LOVE about Super Simple Songs…
…is that they make sure that they include diverse nationalities, cultures and types of people/kids. The characters are just great! Little humans in all different shapes, sizes and colours are included in their animations and puppet videos – The girl in her native dress, the boy with the afro hair, the children with freckles – it’s about time children were represented in this beautiful way.
(Super Simple Songs have also expanded to Spanish and Japanese language content – they really help your kids to get learning!)
